Princess Sophia shipwreck Lecture Apr 21

Please join us on Monday April 21, 2025 for a lecture on the Princess Sophia shipwreck.

Where: Morris Thompson Visitor’s Center, Fairbanks.

When: Doors open at 6:15 and the lecture is scheduled to begin at 6:30.

Description: Homer Alaska resident Silas Firth of Anchor Point’s Standing Tide Productions, is creating a documentary film about the shipwreck, it’s crew, people and animals onboard, will be the speaker. He will show a sneak-preview with parts of the film.

The Princess Sophia disaster is known as the Titanic of the North, it being the worst shipwreck on the west coast in history. In Oct 1918, the Princess Sophia left Skagway with approx 354 people on board. 2 days later, it sank, leaving no survivors.
