October meeting, plus 2 more events
For our October 28 meeting, we will meet at the UAF Archives for a tour. We will park at 5pm and walk inside the archives, located in the Rasmuson Library.
The tour will be an introduction to what archives are, how to use the catalog and a finding aid, a walk through the stacks, and pull a collection for people to view. Not everything is online, so this will be an exciting tour for researchers.
Also, 2 more events to consider attending, the Open House at the Archives, and a talk at the Mining Hall of Fame.

Sneak peak for our November meeting: We welcome Peggy Merritt as she gives a presentation on her new book “Finding Democracy Through the Lens of a Young German Woman, 1944-1950.” It’s a true story of a young woman who, through her art, photographs, and letters, chronicled the end of Nazi Germany and the early years of the American occupation. Peggy will also include on how she conducted the research for this time period of World War 2. More info coming soon.
Coming in 2026, we have a few exciting programs in the works. One will be about a story of a local man in the 1940’s. Recently, we were shown some old photos, and they have been identified as the family of this man. Also, we have a couple of openings in the schedule if you would like to talk about your subject matter. Our meetings are always fun and enjoyable to hear and learn.
