The November 2021 meeting “Baroness of Fairbanks” was not recorded despite our Zoom settings. We apologize.

November 2020 Zoom meeting “My Strange Family” by Amy Stratman can be viewed below, or click thru to YouTube.
Amy saw a match on her DNA list on Ancestry.com that she did not recognize. Since the match also matched her paternal half-sister, she knew the match may be the secret to knocking down a genealogy brick wall. Sure enough, this “Strange” surname was the answer to many years of dead-end traditional research.

The October 2020, Bakeries and Bakers of early Fairbanks part 2 and meeting were not recorded. Please read the Taproot for the Minutes of the meeting.

The Bakeries and Bakers of Early Fairbanks read-only presentation introduces you to the bakeries and bakers of Fairbanks, Alaska, when Fairbanks was a new city. The earliest bakeries were found using newspapers and city directories of the time. 1906 during the gold rush years saw many bakeries pop up in tents around the area, and eventually downtown Fairbanks as we progress into the 1930’s. Many bakers stayed for a number of years, and some moved on. Breads, pies, and cakes were enjoyed by the residents.
